How to prepare for your photoshoot

There are so many components that go into a successful photoshoot. A great photographer and beautiful location certainly help, but there are also many things YOU can do to make sure you look your absolute best in front of the camera!  I’ve come up with some tips and tricks to help you make the most out of your photoshoot! The more you can apply, the better. 🙂

Fellas first…

1. Be sure to iron all clothes. Bring all extra outfits on hangers.

2. Keep your lips moisturized the days leading up to your shoot. Wear chapstick the day of the photoshoot.

3. Bring clothing options if possible. Layered shirts, hats, and sunglasses are always good options.

4. As silly as it sounds, practice your expressions in the mirror!

5. Shave. 🙂

Okay, ladies! You should consider the following:

3. Bring clothing options if possible. Layers, hats, accessories and sunglasses are always good options.

4. As silly as it sounds, practice your expressions in the mirror!

5. If you are doing your own makeup, practice your look a day or two before.

6. If you are not one to wear makeup, please consider at least applying mascara and a little lip tint. It goes a long way in front of the camera!

7. Eyebrows shape the face. Be sure yours are nice and trim but please allow a couple days for waxing to avoid red skin.

8. If you plan to wear your hair both up and down, it’s always best to start with hair down and add accessories like headbands, ties and clips after.

9. Please do not spray tan. It can appear very orange and uneven in photographs. Also, be mindful of catching too many UV rays. Red and peeling skin is not only painful but doesn’t photograph well.

10. Avoid having chipped nail polish. If possible, give yourself a mani/pedi a few days before your session. Natural nail polish colors look best and won’t be distracting in pictures.

11. Finally, consider the right undergarments for your outfits. Dark underwear under light colored clothing will show up on camera.

One more thing…
